MEDIA RELEASE- For Immediate
Release, October 28
BIG SEASON AHEAD FOR THE FLY
After a strong finish to last season, Ian Lewis Racing
is primed for yet another huge season of sprintcar racing throughout
parts of Australia.
In between the season break, team
owner Dave Challons has been busy preparing the team with everything
that is required to tackle a hectic sprintcar season.
To no surprise, the team continues
its strong association with J&J Auto racing cars, with two brand
new 2005 J&J chassis ready to be let loose on the speedway. The
2005 chassis' have been campaigned well in the United States this
season in the World of Outlaws by J&J regular Donny Schatz, and
Craig Dollansky who made the switch at the start of the season.
"We're definitely looking
forward to this season. We've done our homework over the break, that's
for sure and can't wait to put this new machinery to the test,"
said Challons.
True to Challons' nature, though,
there is always room for improvement and he has shown this in a big
way by flying down World of Outlaws driver Tim Shaffer's crew chief,
Shane Bowers. Bowers arrives in Australia to begin at the first Adelaide
round of World Series Sprintcars, hot off a victory at the final Outlaws
race at Las Vegas.
"Shane will be a huge bonus
to the team, there's no doubt about that. I'm sure we'll work well
together and with his help make the car that extra bit faster,"
explained Lewis.
The work however did not stop there,
with the inclusion of two brand new sponsors to the team. Panna Cranes
and leading Australian supplier of high quality race fuels, Elf Race
Fuels Australia, will join the group of businesses who support the
team.
Maxwill Engines provided a bulletproof
372ci engine last season and it makes perfect sense not to remove
a working combination from the Ian Lewis Racing lineup.
The team opted to not commit to
any one-race series' and will travel between a combination of World
Series Sprintcars and the local Victorian SRA Eureka Garages &
Sheds series.
"We won't be running in Queensland
so that rules us out of racing the entire WSS campaign but we will
be at the rest of the rounds with the possibility of Tasmania."
If there was not already enough
work to have been done, the Adtrans, Camden Neon Signs, J&J Auto
Racing car has undergone a face lift with a fresh new paint job to
kick start the 2005/2006 season.
"We just decided on some fresh
war paint and for a bit of a change heading into the new season. The
new look is great and should turn heads around the country. If it
goes half as fast as it looks we should be set for a good summer,"
stated Challons.
"Last season we had the pace
but just had no luck at times so we'll be aiming to make up for some
lost ground from last year," said 'The Fly'.
Armed with the latest artillery
to attack any racetrack the car turns up at, 'The Fly' is certain
to be a strong contender as their sprintcar season begins at Avalon
Raceway this weekend.
Ian Lewis Racing is sponsored by
Adtrans Truck Centre, Camden Neon Signs, J&J Auto Racing, Elf
Race Fuels Australia, Cascade, Panna Cranes, The Metric Men and Transport
Equipment Hire.
